Who would be the audience for your media product?
The
target audience for our media product is 15+ as it is a psychological horror film
that would not be suitable for people of a younger ages as it features both
mild language and references to violence but also would not appeal to the over
30 age bracket as well as our character Lucy is a teenager so they could not
relate to her as well as someone the same age as her. We also chose this as a
target audience as the theme of the film can be relatable to the 15 to 18 age
bracket as our main charter Lucy is of this age. The gender that
we will primarily aim as is Males as that had the majority in the results and
this could be as the films narrative features some scenes of violence and the
occupation was primarily students which is good as the character Lucy is also
a student.

The pre-production research that we conducted was an online survey
which asked our target audience questions about our film and the certification
that they would give it but also what they thought of the plot and narrative of
the film. After the surveys were completed we gathered the research to create
result graphs so that we could look at the overall audience that we were
targeting at. We used the research that
we gathered to create our film around this target as they would be our primary
audience for the film and this also then made us think about the themes in the
film and most the people who took the survey said horror was there favourite
genre so we could then interpret this into our film but also meant that we knew
our film would be successful as the treatment profile we created on target
audience gave us an idea of what we can put into the film but also the genre of
it as well.
